About Davidson County Criminal History

Davidson County records are divided among the sheriff, the unified North Carolina courts, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Adult Correction, and the state registry. This private reference site organizes the official routes so a reader can identify the right custodian, portal, counter, or telephone number. Lexington is the county seat and home to the main courthouse and sheriff's complex, while the state systems supply wider court, repository, correctional, and registry coverage.

Why We Built This Site

The hardest part of a Davidson County records search is often choosing the correct record holder. The Davidson County Sheriff's Records Division handles sheriff investigations, arrests, and related reports. The Clerk of Superior Court maintains District and Superior Court case files. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation keeps the fingerprint-supported state repository, while the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry answer different questions.

These roles do not overlap completely. A police narrative is not a court disposition, an active custody entry is not a criminal history, and a clerk name search is not an SBI fingerprint record. Bringing the official contacts, request steps, and access limits into one local reference makes those differences easier to see.

What We Cannot Do

Davidson County Criminal History is privately operated. It has no connection to a North Carolina court, police department, sheriff, or state agency. That limits what the site can provide:

  • It cannot perform an official check or retrieve a record for a visitor
  • It cannot submit a records request or expunction petition
  • It cannot issue certified court files, reports, or repository histories
  • It cannot correct an agency record or give legal advice
  • It cannot promise that an office's current fee, hours, or procedure has not changed

Only the Davidson County office or North Carolina agency that maintains a record can issue an official copy and confirm its present status.

Search Partners

Some pages contain search boxes run by outside providers. Those businesses control their services, prices, data practices, and results. A paid signup reached through such a tool may produce referral revenue that supports this site's operation. Davidson County Criminal History does not control the partner's charges or guarantee the completeness of its results.
